In late April, I moved to Cairns, Queensland to complete 88 days of "specified work" to earn a second year visa in Australia. For most countries, this means doing farm work like picking bananas or working on animal farms. For some lucky reason, the visa that I am on allows me to do tourism work above the Tropic of Capricorn. After traveling the East Coast, West Coast, Top End, and Outback, I moved with the goal to work for a backpacker travel agency. My original plan was to stay in Cairns for about 16 weeks (I was required to do 13), go to Sydney for a week, and then travel New Zealand or Southeast Asia before heading home in November. Plans sure do change.
It's now the beginning of October and I'm still in Cairns!
